NHV Hat Competition 2017

Unlock your block!

For the NHV Hoedenwedstrijd 2017 again a different theme was chosen: make a design with the NHV competition block!

Especially for the NHV Hat Competition 2017 had Guy Morse-Brown designed a hat block. The block was simple in shape, but because of that it could be used in a lot of different ways!

The assignment was to use the block as a basis to create an original and striking design. The shape (s) made with the block could be adapted in all possible ways; the shape may be upside down / inside-out / back-front, folded, deformed, cut into pieces, repetitive, etc. used. Everything was possible as long as the end result showed that the shape of the block had been taken as the starting point.

The winning designs

On Saturday 10 June 2017 the opening show took place in the CODA Museum in Apeldoorn where all submitted designs were presented. Subsequently, the annually changing jury of experts from the entries, based on originality, quality and hat craftsmanship, made a selection of 10 nominated hats, from which the winning design was subsequently chosen.

Audience prize

The jury has now issued its verdict, now it is your turn to decide what the most beautiful creation of this competition was. The competition hats will be on display until 9 in July at the CODA Museum, where visitors can cast a vote on their favorite model.

Vote too!
Have you not attended the opening show and do not have the opportunity to visit the exhibition at the CODA Museum? Let Facebook know which model was most beautiful by putting a 'like' on one or more favorite designs on the NHV Facebook page.
You can vote until 9 July 2017 Points are awarded to the ten designs that received the most votes on Facebook at the end of that day. The hat with the most votes gets 10 points, number two 9 points, etc. The same applies to the votes that are released at the exhibition in the CODA Museum. The points of Facebook and the points of the exhibition at Voorwinden are added together, after which it is determined which hat has collected the most points.
The winner of the Audience Award will be announced in number 59 of Hatlines. The prize itself will be awarded during the National Hats Day on 4 November 2017.
